DUBLIN, Ireland: April 2025 saw a slight improvement in the labor market, with the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropping to 4.1 percent, down from 4.4 percent in March 2025.
On a year-on-year basis, the unemployment rate also declined, falling from 4.4 percent in April 2024.
Breaking it down by gender, the unemployment rate for males fell to 4.0 percent in April, compared with a revised 4.2 percent in March and 4.4 percent a year earlier. For females, the rate dipped to 4.2 percent from 4.5 percent in March and 4.4 percent last April.
Among different age groups, unemployment rose for young people aged 15 to 24, reaching 11.4 percent in April, up from 10.5 percent in March. For those aged 25 to 74, the rate fell to 3.0 percent from a revised 3.5 percent the previous month.
Commenting on the release, Conor Delves, a statistician in the labor market analysis section, said: "The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April 2025 (for all people aged 15 to 74 years) was 4.1 percent, a decrease from 4.4 percent in both March 2025 and April 2024. In April 2025, the unemployment rate for males was 4.0 percent and for females was 4.2 percent."

"The seasonally adjusted number of unemployed males fell to 61,500 in April 2025, compared with 65,000 in March 2025. The seasonally adjusted number of unemployed females in April 2025 was 57,900, down from 62,800 in March 2025."
